1/15/22—Ice Climbers

Last winter while on a drive looking for photo inspiration, I passed a couple of ice climbers clinging to the side of a frozen waterfall. I pulled over and took some photos from afar. I always regretted not getting closer and introducing myself.

Well the opportunity presented itself again as I was enroute to a completely different destination and just so happened to pass the same area I had seen the ice climbers a year ago. It was about 10° out, I didn’t have gloves, and my jeans were lined with holes, but the risk of not getting the photos I wanted was far more severe to me than the risk of frostbite.

I just finished taking a photography workshop with Wildest Co. (highly recommend if you’re a photographer) that was all about personal projects that with propel you out of your comfort zone. I’m not one to approach people very often, but I was determined. Not only was I able to redeem myself and capture the image concepts that I had been sitting with since last year, but I was able to meet a great group of people as well. Success.
