12/8/23-12/15/23—Blue Ridge Mountains

First time dipping below freezing temperatures while in my car camper and survived to tell the tale.

Love this place, so I figured I would sneak away for a quick little trip right before the holidays. My first night, it rained like hell which then quickly turned to snow as wind whipped through my campsite tucked away on a mountain top. It was a long, cold night to say the least. Actually, all the nights were cold. Luckily I was able to adapt and get a better understanding of how to pack my sleeping bag to keep warm once the sun went down. Not that it was very warm out when the sun was up…

This trip wasn’t really about taking crazy photos or hiking cool trails. It was just a much needed getaway to wrap up the year before heading home to enjoy time with family and friends.
