1/3/21—Lantern+Fam

First time shooting in the new year. Had to make it a good one.

Months ago while looking for something in the basement, I stumbled across an old lantern and asked my dad if it still worked. He assumed that it should, and it would just need oil. After that conversation, I found what I was initially in search of and completely forgot about the lantern…until a boring Sunday afternoon. Since all the snow has melted, things aren’t the prettiest around here—really dark and brown and blah. So when I go out to shoot, I kind of need to be intentional about it and have a plan together. If you just go out blind and expecting to find something once you get out there…well more often than not, you end up driving home disappointed. The plan was to fire up the lantern and get some shots that I had conceptualized ahead of time. I managed to get a few of the ones that I wanted but still in need of the other ones I imagined, so looks like I will have to do another outing with the lantern.
