8/1/20—Rainy Campfire
After what feels like the driest summer ever, we finally got some rain here in Warren, PA. A day spent shut in, editing quickly turned to thinking of photo ideas after receiving a “Wanna do something?” text from Cara (@capturelifewithcara). I was trying to think of where we could go, when it hit me after walking past a candle while pacing through my kitchen. We could make a campfire in the woods. The beautiful red, orange, and yellow tones of the fire contrasting the deep, dark greens of the wet trees. Like the PNW but in the Northeast!
Usually in these situations, Cara and I have to play model for each other, but luckily Kelsey (@kelseyy_stuart) came in clutch and was able to stand in for us. I hunted in my backyard for some dry pieces of wood, gathered some paper and cardboard, and loaded up everything in my car. I tried my best to explain to them what I was envisioning. I was already clicking the shots off in my head.
When we got there and first tried to start the fire, we were striking out big time. I have made a good deal of fires in my life, so I just had to trust that it was going to work and be patient. It took a while, but I finally got her going. Although, to make the flames bigger for the photos, I may or may not have sprayed the fire with bug spray. Cheater, I know, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Anyways, I am thoroughly stoked on these photos. Hope you are too. Thanks for reading!
