11/4/20—Textures of Tanbark

Well unfortunately, the leaves have run their course and have all fallen from the trees here in NW Pennsylvania. I always find the transitions between fall to winter and winter to spring incredibly challenging while going out to make photos. Don’t get me wrong, the weather has been beautiful lately, but things just aren’t the same without leaves or snow covering the trees. I also find it challenging doing all these shoots solo (Cara, my adventure buddy, I know you’re reading this).

So my style, I would say, is medium to wide composed frames. I don’t shoot too much macro or tight detail photos on their own, usually only as a complementary piece in an overall story I am trying to tell. Well this day, those detailed shots were the whole story. I tried to capture the textures of the things I typically overlook. It was a good reminder to focus on what is in front of me and not what isn’t…if that makes any sense.
